Designed to be incorporated into the NCR WorldMark Enterprise Storage Cabinet, the NCR 6840 is part of the integrated storage solution designed by NCR for the Teradata Warehouse. The key to this integration is the incorporation of NCR-developed management hardware and software functionality to create a highly available data warehouse system.

Each WorldMark Enterprise Cabinet is equipped with a server management sub-system that is connected to the Administration WorkStation, which is the heart of a centralized monitoring and control system that provides a single point of control for all integrated hardware and software components in the Teradata Warehouse.

Storage for the Teradata Warehouse

NCR 6840 Quad Modular Fibre Channel Arrays feature the performance, reliability and dependability necessary for maximized Teradata® database operation. Highly integrated with NCR WorldMarkT Servers, these new storage arrays are a key component of the highly orchestrated, massively parallel processing system designed to deliver superior performance under the rigorous demands of data warehousing.

The new 6840 arrays offer a 2 GB ready Fibre Channel solution featuring third-generation Quad Modular Disk Arrays technology from industry-leader LSI Logic Storage Systems, and have been developed and optimized for use within the Teradata Warehouse. The new Fibre Channel technology serves the present and future demands of the Teradata environment enabling higher performance and greater distances between node and array.
