NCR 6283 Entry-Level Fibre Channel Array

The NCR 6283 entry-level fibre channel array provides a robust, low cost, deskside solution for symmetric multi-processing (SMP) Teradata® systems.

With the NCR 6283 Entry-Level Fibre Channel Array, you get a high-performance storage solution in an "all-in-one" package that meets the storage requirements of a small Teradata system. This package includes up to ten disk arrays, two controllers, and redundant cooling and power supplies, all in a single small cabinet.

The new 6283 arrays offer a 1GB Fibre Channel solution using the same Fibre Optic technology used in the NCR Quad Modular Fibre Channel Arrays. Developed with industry-leader LSI Logic Storage Systems, the 6283 Array has been optimized for use with the Teradata Warehouse. The Fibre Channel technology used serves the present and future demands of the Teradata environment enabling higher performance and scalability.

Benefiting from the Fibre Optic connectivity of the Quad Modular Fibre Channel arrays, the NCR 6283 Entry-Level Fibre Channel Array can scale up to two arrays connecting to a single WorldMarkT SMP Server. This provides you with the flexibility to meet the needs of a growing low-end Teradata system.

Each 6283 Entry-Level Fibre Channel Array can be configured with either one or two hot swappable Fibre Channel Controllers and up to ten (10) hot swappable, dual ported, Fibre Channel disk drives for a maximum capacity of 364GBs.

Each array features redundant components for maximum protection. Redundant components include fans, power supplies and controllers (optional). These components, along with each disk drive, are packaged in individual canisters and are easily replaced in the field.
